Obverse: ELIZABETH II D G REG F D 2009 (Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith), fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, crowned with the girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, IRB below truncation for designer Ian Rank-Broadley. Reverse: VC FIFTY PENCE, depiction of the obverse and reverse of the Victoria Cross, the reverse dated 29/JAN/1856, CHA to left for designer Claire Aldridge. Mint State/Proof FDC.

First issued in 2006, this coin was resissued in 2009 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the fifty pence. The piedfort coins of this series were each limited to a mintage of only 40 coins.
